Luggage

Gontijo carefully handles and transports your luggage with security and care. It is our responsibility to maintain the integrity of your belongings, stored in the luggage compartments, so that you arrive at your destination with complete comfort and peace of mind.

The ticket price already includes the transportation of items in the luggage compartment and the overhead compartment, observing the following weight and dimension limits:

In the luggage compartment: the weight limit is thirty kilograms and the volume must not exceed 300 cubic decimeters (0.3 cubic meter). Rules for item transportation:

  • The item cannot exceed 300,000 cm³ in volume (height × width × length).
    To calculate: multiply the three measurements in centimeters.
    Example: 50 cm (height) × 60 cm (width) × 80 cm (length) = 240,000 cm³ → Allowed.
  • No side of the item can be over 100 cm (1 meter).

In the overhead compartment: the weight limit is five kilograms with dimensions that fit in the overhead compartment, provided that the comfort and safety of customers are not compromised. If this limit is exceeded, the company will charge for excess baggage, and it will be transported in the luggage compartment.

Luggage in the overhead compartment is the sole responsibility of the passenger.

LIST OF PROHIBITED GOODS AND MATERIALS FOR TRANSPORT

The boarding of products not compatible with the bus luggage compartments that compromise the safety of the vehicle and third parties is prohibited: Brazilian fauna and flora, wild birds and animals (IBAMA) / weapons / ammunition and explosives / improperly packaged products / gases and liquids of any kind in pressurized cylinder / flammable fuels or gases / fragile products / paints and their derivatives / honey / motorcycles, assembled or disassembled.

The transport of gas cylinders, whether full or empty, is prohibited.

CONDITIONS FOR TRANSPORTING PERISHABLE GOODS

In the case of transporting perishable food, they must be kept in appropriate thermal boxes so that the conditions of time and temperature do not compromise their hygienic-sanitary quality. The containers must be clean, preserved, and internally packaged in leak-proof plastic bags, in accordance with the standards set by the health surveillance authorities.

TRANSPORT IN THE OVERHEAD COMPARTMENT

The transport of seafood or any other perishable product in the overhead compartment is prohibited.

The criteria for transporting perishable products were established by the Regular Passenger Transportation Management – ANTT Ombudsman, Protocol no.1651880.

EXCESS BAGGAGE

With the new ANTT Resolution 6.033, excess baggage is treated as an accessory service, giving companies autonomy for charging.

The excess baggage charge will be according to the mileage of the section to be traveled (Check the mileage on your Ticket).

What are the rules for transporting animals?

The Company only transports animals from the DOMESTIC FAUNA, which are exempt from any transactions with IBAMA. Animals that, due to their species, size, ferocity, venom, or health, compromise the integrity and safety of the vehicle, its occupants, or third parties cannot be transported.

Below are the general conditions for animal transport:

Here at Gontijo, we transport your pet on our trips. Please pay attention to the procedures below for a calm and safe journey.

Travel Time: The travel time cannot exceed 24 hours.

Seat Acquisition: To transport an animal, purchase two seats together (side by side) with the same origin and destination. If traveling with a companion, it is not necessary to purchase a ticket for the animal, provided that the seats acquired are together.

Size and Transactions: We only transport small domestic animals that are exempt from IBAMA transactions. Dogs or cats must weigh up to 8kg and be 50cm in length. Only one (1) animal is allowed in the container.

Animal Conditions: For the transport of a dog or cat, you must present an updated vaccination card and a health certificate valid for up to 30 days. For other animals, it is necessary to present the Animal Transport Guide (GTA).

Transport Accommodation: The animal must be in an appropriate container, sized up to 41cm x 36cm x 33cm (length, width, and height), lined and sealed to avoid debris leaks. The passenger is responsible for cleaning at stop points.

Guide Dog: Guide dogs have free transit under Federal Law 11.126 of 2005, without restrictions on procedures.

Emotional Support Animals: They follow the same procedures established by the carrier.

Request: DOWNLOAD the form, fill it out with all the requested information, along with a health certificate, vaccination card, and GTA (if applicable) at least 3 days in advance to transporte.animal@gontijo.com.br. Our team will respond by sending a form with authorization.

Boarding: Present the form authorized by the company, vaccination card, health certificate, and GTA (if applicable) at boarding.

Important: The animal must remain in the carrier for the entire period inside the bus, to prevent any risk to the integrity of our staff, the occupants, or third parties.

Exclusion: The transport of the animal will be denied if it does not meet the requirements of this procedure, and the passenger responsible must provide for the animal without any cost to the transport company.

Passenger Agreement: Even if all documents are up to date and authorized by the company, the animal will only board if all passengers agree. In this case, your ticket will be refunded within a maximum of 30 days.

Responsibility for the Animal's Health: The company is not responsible for the health of the animal during the trip.
